How to Listen for Elements You Can Use in Your Social Impact Podcast

When producing an audio podcast, all you have is “sound” to tell your story. Great podcasts use sounds to help paint a picture in your mind as you listen.

“Homework” for the first session of our prototype podcasting production course was a listening exercise. We asked participants to listen to one of their favourite podcasts and to a style of podcast they might normally overlook, using this document as a guide (there are a couple handy links in it too).

By listening to a variety of podcasts and understanding how their producers used sounds and different editing or musical techniques to make their podcasts sing can help you produce your own amazing content.
